A Boy's Best Friend

About a month ago, my babycenter.com weekly update informed us that our child might soon start developing a strong attachment to his "lovey". We made note of that and moved on. Ian hasn't ever really shown a strong attachment to any particular thing (not even paci's!), unless you count his attachment to Mommy and Daddy.

So when a few weeks later, we saw this sweet sight, we weren't too surprised.

While it wasn't a surprising sight, it still melts my heart every time I see Ian give Skip (his doggie pal) a squeeze.

Ian and Skip have been pals from the very beginning. Melody, a sweet friend that we know through another friend, Mindy, rounded up a bunch of puppies for us when she learned about the doggie theme for Ian's nursery. Skip was one of them and Ian has seemed to favor him from the beginning. In fact, Ian had his first "conversation" with Skip when he was a month old. Skip would ask him questions and Ian would wait his turn to answer. It really seemed like he was talking with Skip!

As Ian grew older, Skip often joined Ian for photo shoots on the couch. He's been there with Ian through one month old adorable times.

And two month old good times.

And through sad times.

And making-a-statement times.

Ian really, really loves his pal. They like to walk back...

...and forth all over the place!

What melts my heart even more is how good of a friend Skip is to Ian at bedtime. He can calm Ian right down and convince him to lay down and snuggle up. After about a week, I finally found the perfect opportunity to take a picture of the two of them napping without being worried about waking one of them up!

Isn't that the sweetest thing ever? Thank you Melody for bringing Skip to be a part of our family!
