Ian is a crib baby. He does not like to fall asleep anywhere else, unless it is in his car seat. He is very content in his crib (unless he doesn't want to go to sleep!). Even though he has been sitting up for four months, able to roll over for five, and crawling in some way (forwards or backwards) for two, he has never once sat up in his crib or rolled onto his tummy. He will only turn on his side or do a 180 on a his back, but never any other kind of movement.
Until today that is. Daddy walked into Ian's room after Ian woke up from his morning nap to see this little sight. Surprise!
Our little monkey has figured out how to get work the crib system and get a better view! We immediately raised the side of the crib to its full height. We didn't want our little monkey escaping!

But then he pulled out another bag of tricks and stood up holding onto the railing (with a little help from Daddy)! Ayiyi! Our baby is growing up so quickly!
Ian is usually very particular about how he sleeps. He can't have anything touching the top of his head, at least until recently. I snapped this picture two minutes after he fell asleep for his nap this morning. He had scooted all the way up to the headboard of his crib and fallen asleep. However, two minutes after the picture, he woke up crying and I had to scoot him back down.

The other day, Ian fell asleep like this. He had turned himself 90 degrees and stuck his foot through the rail. I guess it was just a glimpse of what was to come!

I remember my niece and nephew being able to climb out of their cribs at will. Hopefully we are still a little while away from that! For now though, I'm sure Ian's new trick will keep all of us busy!
Wahhaha. Maybe I will have Allie and Aiden teach Ian how to climb out of his crib. So long immobile baby, hello exploring child.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. I hope Noah never learns to crawl out of his crib! How scary! But kind of funny to think about tho. Isn't it so cute when they learn to pull themselves up?
