Tiny Turkeys

Woo-hoo! It's almost turkey time! And I am excited about this week. My mom is getting married on Friday and I get to see lots of family (although not all...boo-hoo!). I also have a few more weeks left of school and work and then I have a super light work schedule in December with TWO whole weeks off of both school and work!!!!!! I can't wait!

To celebrate our turkey day excitement, I tried my hand with some tiny turkeys today. I had been wanting to make these cutie pies (ok, cupcakes) from Betty Crocker and decided to give it a whirl this afternoon.

Aren't they adorable? Of course, Ian wanted to help me make the cupcakes. He spends a lot of time in my arms while I am cooking...he likes to see everything!

Cheese! (Or in this case...chocolate!)

Ok - way too many pictures of the same thing...I know! But I thought it was so funny how Ian was holding his mouth in this picture. It looks like he is trying to make a fishie face.

I bought all the supplies yesterday and even found some cute autumn sprinkles at Hobby Lobby for my feathers (instead of the black sprinkles in the original). Unfortunately, when I got started today, I realized Ian had gotten into my Hobby Lobby bag and I could not find where he put the sprinkles. So it was off to the store for more, but they were out of those kind, so we ended up with gold instead. We also had to get more icing because I wasn't sure I had enough. I tried a few different ways of icing my cupcakes. I made several mini-cupcakes too, so my turkeys ended up with fewer feathers than the original. Here is one version with icing and feathers (in front of the Coca-Cola popcorn tin...I didn't feel like moving it off the table).

Tiny turkeys in a row!

After a bit more work - lots of tiny turkeys.

Seriously - lots and lots of tiny turkeys!!

Not sure I like the gold sprinkles as much, but oh well. Oh - did you notice the one candy corn with a yellow end in the above picture? One little yellow candy corn was in the bag of brown ones!

Happy early Thanksgiving!
