Gramma K's 50th Birthday

This past Saturday, we headed to Gramma K's house for a sort-of-surprise party to celebrate her 50th birthday. Because we had to coordinate with out-of-town family, we weren't able to keep all of it a surprise. Gramma K knew something was up, but not exactly what. So Ian and I arranged to go to the community pool for a few hours before the party to get her out of the house for a while so everyone else could decorate and set up her big present (a grill!).

Since we were going to be out for a while, Ian wore his little swimsuit that had a matching swim shirt. He and I are starting to get tan from all of the swimming we have been doing, but after seeing him with Gramma K, it's apparent we still have a ways to go before we even look tan!

Testing out the water. Ian wasn't too sure of it at first.

Gramma K helping Ian swim. He did so good - he started kicking his legs and everything!

Trying to swim to Steve.

Steve got Ian's little Mickey Mouse ball to float in one of the kiddie fountains.

Ian had a blast playing with the spray that came out of the horsie's mouth. He cracked up the whole time he was playing with the water - it was impossible not to laugh along with him! He didn't even care when both of us got drenched by the spray!

After we killed a couple of hours, we headed back to Gramma K's house to unveil the surprise. Ian was a little tuckered out from swimming and very glad to see his Daddy.

All the "50" decorations looked great!

Ian had fun checking them out. (Great-Grandma, Great-Grandpa, and Aunt Kathy are in the background in the living room and Steve is standing off to the side behind James.)

Happy 50th Birthday, Gramma K!

The birthday girl, who does not even begin to look fifty!

Of course, Ian thought the decorations had been put up just so he could have something to play with...haha.

The birthday presents!
I loved how colorful all the bags were!

The birthday plates and grill cover, which had been sprinkled with some 50 confetti.

Great-Grandma took the birthday girl out to the patio to show her a "plant". Surprise! The guys had set up the grill and had it in working order already.

The little cousins getting reacquainted.

Ian sitting down for dinner, with his little legs crossed as always! He really isn't much of a hot dog guy, but he liked the potato salad okay.

Gramma K's favorite cake that Great-Grandma makes for her every year.

Blowing out the candles!

Ace was sooooo sweet to Ian. He totally let Ian play with all his toys and even shared a few of his own with him.

I thought this picture was so sweet. Ice cream time!

Yummo! That's some good stuff!

After dinner, Ian was getting a little fussy, so we decided it was bath time. Of course, it had to be a bubble bath!

Rub-a-dub-dub, two cuties in a tub!

Gramma K had hung both their shirts on a hook by the tub and I couldn't resist taking a picture.

After bath time, Ace brought his string of beads and light up funky ball to Ian to give to him. Ian, you sure have a great cousin!!!

We had such a good time getting to see everyone! Happy 50th, Gramma K. We hope you have a wonderful year!
