This has been a super productive week for me (hence the lack of blogs!). I've missed blogging, but have been able to check off so many large projects from my ever growing To-Do list. One major project that really needed to be done was replacing the sides on Ian's crib where he chewed the finish off. I finally called the company last week and they very nicely sent two new sides and the repair kit for all those drop-side cribs - Ian's was one of the ones involved in that major recall a little while back. (Side note - apparently Graco no longer makes drop-side cribs and other crib manufacturers soon won't be able to either.)
Before we put up the new crib rails though, I wanted to get a few more plastic guards to put along the rails so Ian didn't feast on the finish of the new rails. He and I headed over to Babies-R-Us to pick them up. While we were there, I got him two new changing pad covers. We had gotten a blue terrycloth cover that we had registered for, but it was starting to wear out from so much use. Also, we were wondering if it wasn't very comfortable for Ian. He has gotten to the point where he HATES having his diaper changed. I'm sure a huge part of it is just being a toddler and having other things to do and places to go, but it is such a struggle every time that we were willing to try anything and see if it worked!
Ian loved his new cover! Here's a little video clip of it. The first time we set him on it, he got a huge grin and just kept feeling the material. Then, of course, he tried to lick it. All things nice must taste good, right? (We got a light blue cover and a polka dot one...I haven't put on the polka dot one yet, so pix of that later.)
All right, Daddy. That was good fun! Thank you for my new cover. Now I want down to go play in the cardboard, please.

We definitely had plenty of cardboard and bubble wrap for Ian to play in! The crib rails came very well packaged.

It's amazing to see how much his motor skills have developed. Ian scaled the cardboard like he has been climbing cardboard mountains his whole life!

The before picture of the crib rail. Ugg - all this damage was from just a couple of chews!

As we were replacing the sides, Ian got a chance to see what it will be like to have a toddler bed. Funny thing is, he didn't even notice the open side. He was having too much fun bouncing while holding onto the rail. Guess we're not ready for a toddler bed yet!

Say cheese! All fixed!

Don't even think about it, buddy! These crib rails will remain unchewed, if you please.

As an experiment, we also moved the glider from the living room into Ian's room. The seat of the 100 year old rocker we have had in there (thanks to my Mom!) was starting to develop hairline cracks and we were worried about breaking this antique. Unfortunately, the glider is just too big in that room. One view of the glider and one of the bookcases.

View towards the opposite way (with the new changing pad cover).

The crib all fixed up with the plastic guard rails (and we finally removed the mobile!).

Here's the view with the hundred year old rocker back in place. Definitely much more room to move about.

It's a gorgeous rocker! A new chair cushion and a sturdy piece of cardboard should keep those hairline cracks in check for now.

Amongst many other errands, Ian and I went and got my car washed this week. I love it!! It is squeaky clean inside and out! No more worrying about my hubcaps rusting off from the build up of crud on them. Well worth the $12 I spent.

Sooooooooo much better! They are now shiny enough to reflect the grass. :-)

Hubby dear, who is reading over my shoulder, just informed me that my hubcaps are probably aluminum and I didn't have to worry about them rusting off. Whew! I'm still extremely happy they are shiny! I love having a clean car to go run errands in and a clean house to come back to. I'm sure it is a luxury that won't last for long, so I am totally soaking up the wonderful clean feeling while I can!
haha you're so funny! that made me laugh out loud about your hubby over your shoulder.
ReplyDeleteYeah know has made a few teeth marks in his beautiful crib too! Silly boys!
Glad you have been productive this week. I have too. I finally cleaned out our disastrous closet. it feels SOOOOO nice to actually be able to walk into our closet now.
we sure miss you and ian!
i mean't Noah has made a few teeth marks.. i don't know why i wrote 'know'haha
ReplyDeleteLol...I followed "know" just fine. Yay for getting your closet cleared out! Ours is absolutely horrendous! That's still on the to-do list. I'm hoping Ian's crib lasts...he's figured out how to take the plastic guards off. Granted, they're not that sturdy, but still! I may have to go with the cloth covers.
