Ian:911 Dispatcher

(Due to being sick, these posts are a bit behind. This should have been published Thursday.)

James' test ended up being scheduled for today. He was planning to take it tomorrow, but there wasn't anything available. As it turns out, the only place that had it available today was just five minutes down the road from where Gramma K (James' mom) works as a 911 Dispatcher. She has a very interesting job and we always like hearing about it. So, we were thrilled when she invited Ian and me to go visit her at work while James took his test. We dropped Daddy off at the testing site early afternoon and went on to see Gramma K.

Outside City Hall.

Mayor for the Day!!

We got there right at Gramma K's lunch time, so we headed over to the Fish Shack for lunch.

This picture was a total accident, but I thought it looked cool. Ian was playing with his spoon while eating crackers and bread (poor baby was still on the BRAT diet from being sick the day before).

Back at Gramma K's work. She was actually in charge of fire dispatch that day. Pretty cool to see! She has so many screens to manage!

Ian learned how to set off all the tornado sirens for the city!

And he tried his hand at dispatching calls, all with Gramma K's supervision, of course. He didn't make a very good trainee - he didn't want to keep his headset on!

Daddy texted to let us know he was done with the test, so we went and picked him up and came back to see Gramma K a bit more. Ian rang the doorbell so we could get back in.

Gramma K, Daddy, and Ian hanging out.

Afterwards, we went to Sonic for a snack. Ian had a wet diaper, so we changed him in the trunk (best place ever - super flat roomy surface!). It was kind of chilly outside, so he snuggled right up with Gramma K.

We sure had a great time getting to see Gramma K's work! Thank you for the great tour! We were hoping to find out James' test scores today, but apparently that isn't the way it works. They told James they would e-mail him within seven days. Here's hoping they e-mail him quickly!
