Poor Baby

Poor baby! He's had a rough weekend. All this teething (he has a second tooth coming in right next to the first) and then he got the runny nose crud that Mommy had over the weekend. We have gotten to 8 1/2 months with barely a cough and were hoping to make it to a year. But, alas, our poor baby is getting his initiation into the yucky world of runny noses and coughs. He has had a hard, hard day. He definitely does not like Mommy wiping his nose or trying to sucker out boogies. So, he found other things to do to amuse himself today. I left the room for just a minute and came back to find that he had somehow gotten his leg stuck in his train car and had unravelled the jump rope and exercise band that were stashed between the TV and bookshelf.

Thankfully, I didn't have to work tonight and could stay home with my little guy. He has not really had an appetite today and lasted only about four minutes into dinner time. Daddy and I had to put dinner on hold to get him into the tub - his favorite place to feel better. Daddy was having fun playing around with the foam letters and educating our little guy on who is who in the family naming order.

After he was all dressed in his jammies, we suckered his nose again (poor guy!) and put Vick's Vapor Rub on his feet and covered them with warm socks. Dr. Liz - otherwise known as my sister - is quite experienced in the areas of runny noses, coughs, congestion, and the like and recommended it. I had heard about this before, but hadn't ever tried it. It seemed to help at nap time, so we are hoping it really helps overnight. Since Ian hadn't eaten much today - just nursed - the milk factory was a little low on reserves. We got a bottle ready for him, but he did NOT want the bottle...just wanted Momma. Poor baby! Fortunately for him, the milk factory has a soft heart for little sad hungry babies who don't feel good and opened back up to give what it had. Luckily, that calmed him down enough to where he would take the bottle. We had some good cuddle time afterwards.

And then, the tylenol must have kicked in! Ian got this strange burst of energy. It was rather cute. I was holding him on my hip and he reached for my hand so we could dance. We've done this before, but it was the first time he initiated. What a cutie!

Good night, sweet baby! We hope you feel better soon!
