14 on the 14th

How does time fly so quickly?! It's hard to believe Ian is fourteen months already! This past month sure has been a busy one and Ian has been a busy baby through all it!

At fourteen months, Ian:

* loves to crawl underneath our legs (and chairs, his jumperoo, and tv tray tables).

* has mastered walking and is almost running everywhere!

* hates to be cooped up all day. He has to get outside at least a couple of times a day.

* has really enjoyed all the new Veggie Tales that Mommy and Daddy have gotten him. They definitely tie with Wiggles now. In fact, he isn't too big on his new Wiggles dancing DVD.

* signs "more", "all done", "eat" (he smacks a fist on his mouth...it's quite cute), and makes the "all done" sign for "book" and "bath". We've been working on "please" quite a bit, especially when he starts fussing for something.

* is starting to get the point of really understanding when he is about to do something he shouldn't. At this point, he still tells on himself by either showing us the contraband item he's grabbed off the counter or waiting for us to look before getting into something he shouldn't.

* is really starting to grasp how the game of chase or "I'm gonna get you!" works (i.e. he knows he is supposed to run away).

* will wave "bye" when we are getting ready to go on errands and anytime I ask him if he wants to go bye-bye.

* has just started mimicking us when we yawn. It's adorable!! He'll make the "ooooooooo" sound and has even just started patting his mouth when he does it too!

* has started saying "tig-oh", which sounds an awful lot like "thank you" to this Momma, when we give him something (snack, toy, etc). He also says "wigga" often when we say thank you to him (perhaps he is saying "welcome"?).

* LOVES blueberries. He also has started liking fresh bananas and will eat a variety of foods as long as he likes the texture. He hasn't been too big on crackers this past month though unless they are drenched in applesauce or yogurt.

* is still wearing a size 4 diaper and 12 & 18 month clothing. He also wears shoes now without pulling them off!! Well, at least as long as we let him walk while wearing the shoes. He only tolerates them so we will let him walk around.

* surprised me by trying to put his shoes on his feet. For as little as he wears them, he knows where they go. He also knows hats go on the head and glasses go on the face and loves to try and put both on himself.

* just started playing peek-a-boo with his hands on his 14 month b-day! Before he played peek-a-boo with blankets and clothes, but never his hands. I love it! It is soooo cute!

I think this picture pretty much sums up this last month with Ian! He loves to run and Mommy and Daddy stay busy following closely behind!

Mr. Ian, do you realize you will not have another 14 on the 14th until you are a teenager? Mommy doesn't even want to think about that! We are just loving you and having a blast (and getting a lot of exercise!) watching you grow and discover more about the world around you.
