Over the last month, Ian has turned into quite the little explorer. At 17 months, he now:
* goes on hour walks, of which he walks about 99% of the time.
* has gotten pretty good at stopping on street corners and reaching for our hand to hold while crossing the street.
* has two girlfriends. One is his age and he jumps up and down when he sees her at the park. The other is five and he held her hand for THIRTY MINUTES (he will hardly hold our hands for five seconds!) while walking around the park the other day.
* sleeps through the night pretty well (8pm - 7:30amish) and takes an hour and a half nap (or so) about 12:30pm every day.
* will challenge himself to run and climb faster, longer, and harder.
* has started signing "please" in addition to "all done", "more", "thank you", and "bye/hi".
* started saying "uh-oh" and "bye".
* still wears a size 5 shoe, is mostly in 18 month clothing, and has moved up to a size 5 diaper (after we tore the tabs off of three size 4 diapers this week, we decided it was time for a bigger size).
* has had all his back molars poke through and is working on his two front bottom teeth (one on each side of the middle teeth) and a top mid-back tooth. Needless to say, it's been a hard teething month!
* has finally gotten over his fear of slides and even goes down them by himself.
* has started "swimming" in the bathtub (lying on his tummy and floating).
* still loves the ABCs and Ring Around the Rosy.
* eats large chunks of apple and grilled cheese (both new foods this month).

Ian, we are loving every minute we spend with you! We get so many comments from friends and strangers alike about how sweet and happy you are. We have to agree! We are definitely blessed to be your parents!
cannot believe he's already 17 months! crazy! you are doing good catching up. :)
