I think every parent wonders every so often if their child is on track in one area or another. Lately, the area I've been wondering about is Ian's use of spoons. He definitely feeds himself very well with his hands, but has only used spoons on occasion and really hasn't shown much interest in them lately. I know a lot of other little 18 month - 2 year olds that handle spoons like a pro and I have to admit that I was getting a little worried that Ian was falling behind on mastering this skill.
Well, I shouldn't have worried. After the fair last Saturday, we stopped by Chick-Fil-A for dinner, and it only took Aunt Kt two seconds to get Ian eating with a spoon. I honestly still have no idea what she did. I hadn't even mentioned the spoon thing to her! I just looked over and she had Ian using a spoon like a pro! (P.S. Please excuse my voice - it sounds awfully loud to me. I'm guessing it's due to allergy congestion and not being able to hear myself as well??)
After Ian was done with his ice cream, Ace gave him a ride around the restaurant in the high chair.

Such a good big cousin!

Well, Aunt Kt - we're gonna call you the Toddler Whisperer now! All week, Ian has been very insistent on feeding himself with his spoon. Big change from the week before when all he would do was throw his spoons on the floor!

Mmmm...tastes so good!

See? I had to keep taking pictures all week because he was doing so good!

Yummm!

Here are a few more pictures from the other night at Blue Cherry getting frozen yogurt. Ian wasn't interested in the yogurt at all (which he normally loves) until we gave him a spoon.

Smart kid...he figured out the other end of the spoon worked better (it actually did - the little grooves held the yogurt on better!).

Good times.

Those spoons make great teethers too.

Being such a big boy!

What's better than having a spoon? Why, having two spoons of course!

This pic really shows the teeth coming in. If you double click on it to make it larger, you can see the little tooth poking up on his left on the bottom next to the middle teeth.

Showing some serious spunk with those spoons!

Aunt Kt, you ought to consider writing a book! We will have to "go to the fair" again when it is time to potty train... :-)
I can't get over how big he looks!! He is more boy than baby!
ReplyDeleteIan is really adorable. I saw that you had allergy congestion; for your allergies, why not try Zicam's nasal gel? I'm working with them; visit http://bit.ly/aZLzSy for $2 off Zicam Intense Sinus Relief Nasal Gel.
