Teething Bites

There is no happy way around it - teething bites! The last few days have been particularly hard here at home. Daddy and I have been super sleep deprived and I have been dealing with bad allergies. Poor little Ian has been hit with a growth spurt, allergies, and serious teething all at once.

Fortunately, Daddy had an unexpected day off yesterday and he and I were able to catch up on sleep. We both got 12 hours!!! We definitely needed that! Ian even took a 3 1/2 hour nap yesterday...totally unheard of for him!

However, his long nap wasn't enough to get him feeling much better. Poor little guy has been having a hard time.. Here's just a little clip of how hard it is has been on him. He gets super tired and bangs his head to try and stay awake and then those nasty teeth get in the way.

The rest of his night didn't get much better. I got off work at midnight last night and headed home. James told me Ian had already been up a couple of times, so I stopped by the store to get extra juice and Pedialyte (just in case) so we wouldn't have to go anywhere in the morning. Ian was up again when I got home and I took over baby duty so Daddy could study. Poor Daddy ended up pulling an all-nighter to study for his midterm this morning!

Ian and I cuddled and nursed and then I made the mistake of suckering his nose to get all the boogies out. He was quite upset after that and wouldn't calm back down. So we ended up on the living room couch watching Veggie Tales. I tried to put him back to bed a few times, but to no avail. All he would do was scream and he wouldn't calm down even after 10 or 15 minutes (rare for him anymore), so I got him back up to watch Veggie Tales. Thank goodness for Veggie Tales! Ian just laid on the couch with me, not moving (but not falling asleep either!) for a whole Veggie Tales movie. Around 4am, I tried putting him back to bed. Fortunately, it worked that time!

He woke up at 7am, but luckily went back asleep in bed with me until 8am. He and I spent the rest of the morning finding as many different things for him to chew on as we could. We also took a looong walk - his favorite type of pain reliever. In fact, we took another hour walk this afternoon. Two one hour long walks are no small feat on five hours of sleep (including nap time)!

Chewing on the paci on his Wubbanub.

He was chomping that thing!

Poor little guy - he kept stuffing as much of the paci into his mouth as he could. Ouchy, ouchy teeth!

Aww...his expression in this picture really sums up how he felt.

Here is showing how he and Mommy laid on the couch the night before (minus the Mommy part).

Tylenol, teething tablets, and orajel only go so far. When the teething is worse than those three meds together can handle, we go for frozen yogurt. Poor baby wasn't even too into that at first. A couple of spoons later, he decided the yogurt was okay and the spoons were great to chew on.

Well, little buddy, here's hoping tomorrow is a better day for all of us! I know we will all be glad when you get those teeth in - teething bites!
