It took me a week, but I finally got our bluebonnet pictures set to a really cute song! I had lots of problems with it initially and couldn't figure out what was wrong. It only took my very tech savvy hubby two seconds to figure out the problem and another five to fix it. Sigh. Wish I could do that!
Chione, a friend of mine with a beautiful five week old baby girl, had taken recent bluebonnet pictures and was able to tell us a great place to go that is close by. So last Thursday, we got into our bluebonnet outfits (yes, I coordinated bluebonnet outfits for us...my hubby was thrilled too...let me tell ya!) and jumped in the car on a whim. We found the bluebonnet coated embankment without too much trouble and proceeded to wade through the knee high grasses and bluebonnets to get to the middle of it. I had no idea they grew so tall!
We took our pictures and headed back to the car. I had been very careful to look for snakes since I had heard they could nest among the weeds, but I didn't consider another possible hazard - allergies. That's right - good ole weed allergies. I had been kneeling in the grasses in a skirt and my lower legs broke out in major hives as we hiked back to the car. I was sneezing, my eyes were watering, and I was feeling short of breath. And, of course, I didn't have any allergy medicine with me so we had to make an emergency stop at Target on the way home. So lesson learned - if you have weed/grass allergies, wear long pants for bluebonnet pictures!
We still had a lot of fun though. I am so glad we live in a part of Texas that has such beautiful bluebonnets!
how very cute! and the song is perfect. You will have to tell us where the bluebonnets are!
ReplyDeleteand thank you so, so much for your prayers! Still clogged up but i haven't been in so much pain today. Thanks again!
Love the pics! Any good Momma would coordinate the outfits!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Glad you enjoyed our spot. I think it was a bit better a few weeks ago when we went because the rest of the grasses weren't as tall, but there were certainly still plenty of bluebonnets to enjoy. =)
ReplyDeleteFor anyone else interested, we took the photos on George Bush (Hwy 161) at Walnut Hill on the east side of DFW airport. Take the Walnut Hill exit and park at the Calvary Church. Then just cross the (very quiet) service road and pick your patch!
