Baskets and Kisses

Ian loves to empty his toy basket! It's his new favorite play time activity. He likes to take out each toy, often chewing on it, and set it aside before reaching for the next one. It is interesting to see how much he really seems to enjoy new challenges.

(James said I can't leave you hanging like that though. So, here's the follow up to this video clip: at this point, it was about nap time and he was getting tired. I helped him turn the basket over and he played with it for about a minute more.)

The other day, as Ian was emptying out his toy basket, he came across a rattle he really wanted to shake. He set it down on the floor after shaking it for a moment and started to reach for the toy basket. Then he looked back at the rattle and started to reach for it. Halfway to picking it up, he looked back at the toy basket. It was so funny to watch him!

Another new thing Ian likes to do now is give Mommy and Daddy kisses. We, of course, have been kissing him since birth and he has started initiating little open mouth baby kisses on his own. It is so cute to see (and a little slobbery!). Even though we tend to kiss him more on his cheek than on his mouth, he seems to prefer kissing us on the mouth. Here are a couple of cute pictures we got the other day.

Kissing Daddy! He grabs Daddy's face and pulls him in for a kiss.

Kissing Mommy too! He grabs my hair to pull me in for a kiss.

It almost looks like he is doing CPR on Daddy! But, it is the cutest thing and no matter how slobbered on we get, we are always happy to have kisses from our little boy!

P.S. I just have to mention that his outfit is another product of him spitting up/drooling all day. He starts the day with matching outfits and inevitably ends up with mix-n-match pieces.

  1. Awwww, those are the best kind of kisses. The sweet, slobbery, open mouth kisses! I love how they hold on to bring you in for the kiss. I would gobble him up with kisses if we were closer :)
