Seven Months and Counting

My sweet, precious, little baby boy is seven months old!!! I have to admit that I am already mourning the loss of his little babyhood. I was okay with him turning six months - even kind of excited. He started sitting up on his own and somehow six months just seemed like a nice even number for him to be. He was still a baby, but growing, but not grown up. Now though, he is just a few months away from eating big kid good and getting around on his own! It really is more sad than I thought it would be!

This past month, Ian has discovered tags. He absolutely loves to chew on the tags to anything he can find - his bibs, blankets, stuffed animals. If it has a tag, he can and will find it and will suck on it! Some smart person invented taggie blankets - little blankets with tags all around the edges. Apparently, Ian isn't the only baby with an affinity for tags. We're waiting to see if he gets one for Christmas. :-)

Ian also loves to play "toy basket". In fact, he often prefers to playing toy basket over jumping in his jumperoo anymore. He has had so much fun in that jumperoo - it is kind of sad to see him outgrowing it (although I will be glad for the extra space in our living room once we dismantle it and put it back in storage!). He still plays with his jungle gym for the first 30 minutes every day after nursing, but I have a feeling that isn't going to last too much longer, especially once he gets better at rolling over and scooting.

As sad as watching him grow out of things can be, we are having a blast watching him develop new skills and finding new ways to interact with us. He absolutely loves to be entertained and makes a great audience for all the silly stuff we come up with trying to amuse him. His little laugh always makes the hardest of our days so much more bearable.

This video is a little long, but it shows a lot of Ian's new skills/hobbies: sitting (and bouncing!) in his crib, chewing tags, rubbing his heels together (he often gets his socks off this way), and just being cute!
