Snow Day #2

Day 2 brought another snow day! The temperature didn't get out of the low twenties, so all that wonderful ice stayed frozen. Even the University, which rarely closes, decided it was a good idea to stay closed. Unfortunately, the state of Texas decided that all that cold weather was going to cause a power shortage and came up with the brilliant plan of doing rolling blackouts. So at 6:30 in the morning, we woke up to our smoke detectors beeping. Apparently they are hardwired to beep every time the power goes out. So James got up, found a stool, and reset them. Twenty minutes later, they were beeping again. Rinse and repeat until 9:30 - did not make for a happy Mommy and Daddy, especially since Ian had slept in!

A little later, we noticed the internet and cable were not working. Thank you rolling blackouts! So I called Verizon, put the hold music on speaker, and waited...

In the meantime, Ian and I amused ourselves with a little snack.

He got all the olives on his fingers and then decided to take them off instead of eating them off.

After an hour and a half hold, some representative got our internet back up and promised to send a new battery via UPS by Friday. (Apparently our battery wasn't working well...who knew cable boxes even had batteries?) So I hung up with him, and two minutes later noticed the internet and cable were down again. Sigh. So James called Verizon back. Long story short, they said they couldn't send anyone to fix it until Sunday.

So there really wasn't much left to do other than get started on a bunch of projects that had been sitting around. I started with Ian's closet, where he discovered his Bumbo. He had so much fun playing with it! I just happened to be lucky enough to catch this cute little face on camera!

Hmmm...why is Mr. Gorilla sitting in my Bumbo?

Look! All sorts of ways to sit in this cool thing!

More bubbles!!!

I love how thrilled he is to have bubbles! Sure makes being stuck inside easier!

We definitely watched a TON of Veggie Tales while being snowed in. Ian loves to watch them on Daddy's computer. It was so funny...this time he sat down, grabbed a couple of my coupons that had printed off the printer, and started to "read" the coupons while watching VT! I ran to get the camera, but he was done reading them by the time I got back.

Ian and I also organized the pantry. I don't have a before picture or you could see how much work actually got done. I finally got all of his baby bottles out of here and bagged up so I could pack them away.

James worked on getting our e-book (that we wrote five years ago!) ready to publish on Smashwords most of the day. It's really amazing how productive we can be without internet and cable distractions. :-)
