Snow Day #4

Snow Day #4 brought...you guessed it!...more snow! So, we stayed inside for most of the day...again. Thursday I had brought a lot of the sorting I was doing in Ian's closet and dresser out to the living room so I could work on it after he went to bed. So this morning, Ian was happy to find all sorts of tubs to sit in and on!

Poor little guy...still waking up. He's actually signing his name here! (Although he still doesn't know that's what he is doing!)

Nothing like a good read in the wagon on a cold snowy day.

After a bit, Ian and I decided to go brave the cold weather again while Daddy worked on the book some more. Ian grabbed his little cameo helmet and put it on as we were going outside...so cute! (But still so cold!)

Aww...it always melts my heart when he stands there and holds that helmet up to his chest.

Mom, in case you hadn't noticed, it's FREEZING!!

It really was rather cold. So we came back in, had lunch, Ian took a nap, and then we decided to try it again since the sun had come out. We didn't stay out long enough the first time to play with the shovel, so we brought it out again.

Daddy showing Ian how to shovel.

Haha...he didn't want anything to do with it! I can't blame him!

Ian really wanted to go for a ride in his trike. The packed snow actually made a pretty good surface for driving!

Ian and I got a little more adventurous and went out on the icy street. It made for some fun ice-triking!

Back inside, we had olives for a snack. Ian and I love those things!

Getting a little help from Mommy this time.

Being cooped up for four days doesn't really do much for a toddler's patience levels! Poor little Ian got put in time out more than once today.

We had been doing time outs in his crib, but that wasn't working very well. Ian just had fun playing. So, after watching Supernanny on DVR last night, I decided we should have a little time out spot for Ian and set the timer so he would know exactly when time out was over. (I had been wanting to do this for a while, but hadn't gotten it all together.) Let's just say I was rather surprised! My little man got in trouble for banging on the TV, so I put him on his new time out spot. The first time, he sat there for a moment (which surprised me since we hadn't done this before!) and looked up at me with bashful eyes, and then tried to get up several times. I kept putting him back on the stool until the timer dinged at a minute. (I know you are supposed to have them sit for the whole minute, but this was the first time with the new system and I wanted to him to know the timer dinging meant he was done.) An hour later, when he was in trouble again for the same thing, he sat on the time out spot the whole time! He would look at me, scoot his little tushy off the side of the stool, and then sit right back down. But he stayed there. By the end of the day (and his fourth time out), he was a pro! He waited til the timer beeped and then stuck his arms out for a big hug (which he got once he signed "sorry"). It was very interesting to me to see how advanced my little toddler was in this area of time out and how quickly he figured out the rules. Made me wish I had started this earlier!

The rest of the day Ian spent helping me with various activities. He loved climbing on the tubs Mommy had out. He had a lot of fun with them!

He even helped me fold laundry! I had folded the blue towel and put it on the couch and was starting to fold the green towel when he grabbed it from me and laid it on top of the blue towel in as folded up of a bundle as he could manage. Smart boy!

He was a great helper when it came time to do dishes!

Haha - he placed his current sippy cup (the green one) in with the other cups while he was helping.

Then it was on to organizing Mommy's pots and pans.

I was finishing up the dishes and not paying much attention to the clanging of pots and pans. So I couldn't help but laugh out loud when I turned around and saw this...

What a good organizer! He was practicing sledding on the cookie sheets!

We got the dish soap in this fun little bottle and the bar cleared off.

After a bit, Ian ran off to watch Veggie Tales with Daddy and I grabbed all of his bottles to put away. I can't believe I have left these in the pantry for so long!

Whew! The bottles are in the orange tub. We are sure getting a ton of tubs of clothes and baby stuff in Ian's closet. I need to figure out what I am going to keep and what I am going to pass on. Any suggestions??

Oh - and the best part of today - the nice Verizon man showed up two days early and reconnected our internet! Thank goodness for the Superbowl - Verizon was trying to get everyone back online before Sunday and sped up their services just for that! I'm one happy camper now. Got lots of cleaning and organizing done, have my internet back, and the snow is finally starting to melt!

  1. Aw looks like you guys had a great day! Man y'all went outside a bunch! Ha poor Noah didn't go out in the snow once. Really we didn't have warm enough clothes for him and he kinda had a little runny nose so I hated for him to get more sick.

Love all the pictures and so glad time out worked for you!! That reminds me (and I feel so bad about it!) but I need to finish up ian's monster mat!! I'll do that this upcoming week. I'm so sorry I've had it for so lOng. Part of the reason I haven't finished it is because I need toget some more fabric for yhe backside. Anyway, Ill get that to you asap so you can start using it!
