So you can follow along, here are the lyrics to the first two stanzas:
Now it's time to say good night
So I will tuck you in tight
From your head to your two feet
May your dreams be sweet
Dreaming of the sky
Dreaming you can fly
Dreaming all night long
While you sing this song
We started him off and then he sang all but the last line himself! Of course, he tends to mix up the sky and fly lines, but we still love it!
At bedtime, we almost always sing at least three songs with Ian (more if Ian can get away with it...ha!). James is great about mixing up songs that we sing to him, which is great. If it were up to me, we'd sing his lullaby and a few Girl Scout songs every night. I'm not that creative! James will often sing him hymns or songs from church that we grew up on - anything with a slower, relaxing melody. So, to my surprise, Ian has also memorized "I Love You, Lord". It just blows my mind...obviously he does not get his musical ability from me!
From a speech delay that put Ian about a year behind to singing songs on his own in seven months...I am quite thrilled with all the progress we have made and very proud of my little singer!
