O-N-E spells Trouble!

We have had a lot of fun with all of Ian's newfound abilities as he continues to grow and develop. He has always loved to explore the world around him and we love watching him. What we didn't know is that one year olds have a license that allows them to explore far more dangerous things than when they were merely months old. The birthday fairy must bring the license on their birthdays. In Ian's case, she forgot to inform us that he is now a licensed one year old!! This past week alone, he has:

* come crawling out of the bathroom proudly holding Mommy's razor (which she normally keeps five feet up!). He had the blade in his mouth and cut his lip pretty good. It took about ten minutes to get the bleeding to stop (it wasn't gushing, but it was a steady trickle). Thank goodness Daddy was home and kept calm as Mommy got more and more worried each minute he bled. We followed up with a call to the doctor, who said he was up on his shots and we had nothing to worry about. Ayiyiyi!

* grabbed Mommy's nail polish in the three seconds she wasn't looking (she counted them), got the top off (she must not have tightened it as tightly as she thought), and painted his face. Whew! Talk about making Mommy's heart stop! Fortunately, it was only three seconds and he didn't ingest any. It's not the best picture, but I wasn't going to try for better. I wanted to get that stuff off of him!

* crawled into the bathroom two seconds ahead of Mommy (okay maybe five) and already had his hands in the toilet by the time she got there!

* made big messes with his food (that's pretty normal). But this was extra funny because he had a perfect spaghetti hand print on the side of his face.

Whew! He is really keeping us on our toes!

Besides giving Mommy heart attacks, one of Ian's new favorite interests is rocks. He loves them and he loves to taste them, even though they always taste yucky. He makes a face every time, but that doesn't stop him from tasting them.

Haha - his expression makes me laugh! Yup, another yucky tasting rock. Why can't any of them taste good? Maybe the next one...

It's hard to see, but he's making his "yuck" face and sticking out his tongue.

These expressions crack me up! I wish I had been at a better angle, but you can see that he really doesn't like the taste!

But, being the sweet little boy he is, Ian definitely doesn't hold the bad taste against the rocks though. They're still good friends and he takes them with him on his little adventures.

Of course, at this age, Ian tends to be a fair weather friend. Once he's done with his little rock pals, he's done. Tosses them to the side and moves on to the next thing in his busy schedule.

Usually the next thing in his morning schedule is climbing. Ian LOVES to climb and he especially loves to climb Naybah C's stairs! We are so lucky to have such a nice neighbor who doesn't mind Ian mountain goating up and down his stairs. It sure keeps Mommy and Daddy busy though! We want to Ian to learn and develop good climbing up skills (and climbing down skills!) and that means staying right behind him, often holding on to him as he climbs.

Here's a safe little climb. Ian loves to challenge himself and prefers to go down forwards if he can.

I think I can! I think I can! I think I can!

One step at a time (pun intended...haha).

For all the scares Ian gives us, he makes it all worthwhile! We have such a sweet boy and he gives the best smiles and hugs!

Mommy and Daddy love nothing more than cuddling up with our little guy and sharing some that loving feeling!

Baby boy, no matter how much trouble you get into or how many scares you give us, you will always always always have a such a special place in our hearts! We love you!
