Taking Off!

We can't say we weren't warned! "Just wait until he starts walking," they said. "You won't be able to keep up with him," we were told. And "they" were right!

For the last few weeks, Ian has progressively been taking more steps between James and me. This week, he started standing up on his own in the middle of the room with no support and taking a few steps to the nearest couch or chair.

Yesterday I looked up to see that he had already walked halfway across the living room/dining room and was coming to get me in the kitchen (a distance of about 20 ft). And he made it! That is by far the longest distance he has walked on his own.

Here's a little video clip I got of his big trek!

The walking bug has definitely bit Ian. He walked everywhere today! He walked all the way around our apartment building pushing his little Cars car. He figured out he could walk between the kitchen and the living room and spent a half an hour exploring this newfound freedom. We pulled the dining room table out from the wall to get ready for Nana and Mr. Frank's visit for dinner and Ian walked circles around the table (of course, every time Momma got the camera out, he started crawling around).

We took him outside and he stood up by himself and walked all the way down the sidewalk! Daddy is so sweet and was a bit concerned that he would take a nose dive on the concrete and stayed very close to make sure there were no bloody noses.

A picture of Daddy walking outside with Ian.

Doing so good!

Enjoying an ice cream bar after all that hard walking!

Watch out world! Here comes Ian!
