Casserole Bliss

We are just now getting back on our feet after a very hard week. I knew last week would be busy, but I hadn't expected all of us to get sick on top of everything. So, I was immensely grateful that Margaret, a sweetheart of a co-worker, made us her famous yummy chicken spaghetti casserole. It was soooooo nice not to have to even think about cooking today!

The casserole come home with me after work last night and found some friends to hang out with in the fridge today.

It cooked up beautifully!

I am so going to have to get me one of these casserole dishes and stand thingies - so pretty!

Ian loved it! And he can be somewhat of a picky eater too.

He scarfed down his dinner like no one had fed him in a week!

Hats off to you, Marg! It was the best chicken spaghetti casserole I have ever had! Thanks so much for making it for us - what a HUGE blessing! We can't wait until tomorrow night to finish it off!

Tomorrow we are going to get Ian's first year pictures taken at the Dallas Arboretum by our fav photographer, Kay McIntire. Kay did our wedding shots there too and I cannot wait to see what kind of pictures we get with Ian.
Here's a little sneak peek at some of the fun we are going to have. Since Ian is turning one, we get to do the fun smash cake shots. Isn't this candle adorable? Errr...I mean cute...in a boy way. :-) It perfectly matches the birthday hat and bib set that I found on Etsy for him (thank you Libby for introducing me to that wonderful site!).

Okay, okay. You talked me into it. Of course you can't see just the candle. There's no vision there. The cake is what it is really all about! Here's a little peek inside that cake box. Isn't this one great? (The little dollop of icing on top is to hold the candle in place.)

Extravagant. Frivolous. Unnecessary. I know, I know, I know. I still can't believe I spent our hard earned money on a candle and cake just to be cute. Especially when I could have made it myself for a fraction of the cost. But...it wouldn't have been as cute. And I really didn't have time. And Ian, being the oldest, is going to have more responsibilities as the older brother than his younger siblings. So he deserves some fun. Even though his siblings are still just a twinkle in Mommy and Daddy's eyes. Yeah. Plus it's so cute! Did I mention that? It's going to look so great in pictures. Hehe...are there enough justifications there yet for splurging? If not, I am sure I could come up with more...
In any case, be on the look out for pictures! I'm headed to bed to get some rest before our big day!
