One day when my sister and I were both a little frustrated with our own respective kiddos, she suggested we swap children. Other people's children are rarely as tiring as your own, especially when they are family! I thought that was a great idea and we agreed to swap kids for a night during their Texas visit. I didn't have to work Tuesday night, so we thought that would be a good time. We made plans, but hadn't let the kids in on them. Out of the blue on Monday, Allie piped up and said she wanted to spend the night at my house. Of course, Liz and I winked at each other and said that was just fine. Then she asked, "What about tomorrow night?" How could we say no to that? That child certainly has good timing!
Tuesday we spent the day together and then went to Bear Creek Park (pictures coming soon!). Afterwards, we dropped back by Nana's house to pick up Allie and Aiden's jammies and toothbrushes and headed over to our apartment for dinner. Nana and Mr. Frank joined us. After dinner, we packed Ian to go with Auntie Lizzie. It wasn't until she was pulling out of the driveway with Ian that I realized we didn't have a picture of them leaving. We figured we would just get one in the morning.
We did get pictures of us with "our kids" for the night though!
Getting ready to watch a movie.
Chilling with Uncle James.

I think they were watching Hannah Montana here. They had already watched Aiden's Super Heros movie, so it was time to watch Allie's movie.

I thought they might fall asleep while watching the movie, but not these kiddos. They were really into it. So at 11pm, I finally had to turn it off so we could get some shut eye. They fell asleep pretty quickly after that!

At midnight, Liz called. Mr. Ian was not enjoying his sleepover and needed to come home. Poor baby has Mommy's genes and is kind of allergic to Nana's cat. Plus, he only responds to lunges to calm down when he is really upset and there are only so many of those one human being can do (James and I trade off). Auntie Lizzie was nice enough to bring him back to us. We traded boys and she took Aiden with her. The sprinklers were on though and pointed right over the sidewalk, so we ended up having to cover the kids with towels while exchanging them. All of us adults got pretty wet in the process! Of course, as soon as James was walking back in from putting a sleeping Aiden in the car, the sprinklers stopped!
In the morning, Allie woke up to find her little brother had magically morphed into her little cousin. She was happy to see Ian nonetheless! Ian loves Allie - here they are sharing a sweet moment.

Allie even helped me feed Ian breakfast. Open up!

Auntie Liz and Aiden came over after breakfast, and after a few errands, we hit the pool for our first swim of the season.

The older two were thrilled to get to go swimming!

Allie swam from the edge to her Mommy without help!

Aiden had a great time "swimming" in the hot tub. That kid is made of steel! He went back and forth from the warm hot tub to the cold pool without batting an eye.

And Ian...well, Ian needed a little pick-me-up, so he got a cookie. He made a huge mess! (But he was so cute sitting there with his little legs crossed.)

I just had to add another picture of his cute little crossed legs.

The water was much too cold for Ian, so we put him in his little boat.

After he got tired of being in there, we went over to the hot tub. He had a great time splashing the water and then splashing the rocks.

Maybe next time we "trade" kids, Ian will be up for staying the whole night. We had fun though and are looking forward to the next child swap!
