Even though I know they absolutely do not care if we clean, it has been a great excuse to really get the house straightened up! In fact, I almost titled this post "Why You Should Have People Over". I've gotten so much done this week! Closets cleaned, pictures set out, major grocery shopping done, carpets steam cleaned, bathrooms cleaned. I even cleaned out our fridge!! Kinda sad - we had lots of leftovers that needed to be tossed!

Thanksgiving Prep - Done!
This week is gonna be busy for us. Normally we have three Thanksgivings. This year though we have two Thanksgivings and a wedding! Yup...Nana is getting married on Friday! All my siblings that could make it are staying at our house (all except my younger sister and her family...sniff, sniff).
But the fridge looks so much better now! (It has more groceries in it now than when I took the picture a few days ago.)
See my nice clean hall table?
And my handsome little boy showing it off?
Uncle Kenny's bed is all ready! (Ian is going to bunk with us.)
Ian helped me get the window clings off the sheets and up on the sliding doors.
I was impressed - he actually did a pretty good job. That cluster of leaves and pumpkins around the turkey is all his work.
Ta-da!! Sliding doors all decorated!
Haha - as I was cleaning stuff up, I walked by the office and saw Daddy and Ian had snuck in there for some down time.
I kept cleaning, but it wasn't long before James was calling me to bring the camera. Ian had been chilling with his hands behind his head. Right before I took the picture though, he moved his left hand to scratch his belly. Aahhh - ultimate relaxation!
Kitchen table decorated - check!
Moving Daddy's computer (and computer chair) from the office to our room - check!
Getting Ian's temporary bed set up - check!
Moving Ian's changing pad and wipe warmer to our room - check.
I'm so glad we had the foresight to buy Daddy a computer desk with wheels! We haven't moved the computer very often, but it is soooo nice just to roll it from one from one room to another when it needs moved. (And yes, we still need to hang that picture...I'm hoping to recruit Uncle Kenny for that job!)
The guest room looks so big with the computer desk moved and most of the boxes cleared out!
Skip was ready for bed a bit before Ian, so he went ahead and laid down. :-)

happy thanksgiving to you guys!
ReplyDeleteI learned early on that the best way to make sure that the house is unpacked from moving and that everything finds its right place ... is having people over. I've even intentionally scheduled a party for three weeks after moving to motivate me to get it done.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving and all the best to your mom!
