I was recently browsing mamapedia.com, my new favorite website that has great recommendations for anything you need in your area by local moms. I was actually looking for a pediatrician, but came across a post where a mom had recommended both a pedi and a dentist. And not just any dentist, but a dentist that provided FREE childcare during your appointment!!! It sounded way too good to be true, but I followed up on it lickety-split! One quick Google search pulled up a link for
Bohannan Dentistry and I scoured their page looking for the childcare info. No luck there, so I clicked on their
blog. Whoop-de-do! They do indeed provide free childcare during your appointment. I was super excited (in case you haven't figured that out yet!). I also loved the rest of the info I read on their website about their office. The dentists are a father-son team who are very involved in their local church. And, they just moved to a beautiful new office located in my town!!
Here's what the blog had to say about their Early Smiles program:
"The new location will feature the Early Smiles childcare center. This is a free babysitting service that we offer to our patients with children during their dental appointment. We know that it is difficult to find childcare during short dental appointments, so we decided to add this service at the new location. Children in Early Smiles will be able to explore the jungle themed room, play the Wii, or create a craft. We have brought on board a new staff member to work in Early Smiles. Judy has extensive experience in the childcare business. We are looking forward to your children meeting Judy and having fun in Early Smiles!"
Sounds great, doesn't it? I called the next day to see if they would take our insurance, and was happy to hear that they did. I set an appointment for both James and I to get our teeth cleaned during his days off and for Ian to play with Miss Judy in their Early Smiles program. As you know, James ended up being sick all week, so he had to cancel. Ian and I went though and I have to say it was a really good experience. It was great to meet Dr. David and the rest of the staff - they were all really friendly and efficient.
Ian and Miss Judy playing with some of the toys in their well-stocked Early Smile's room.

After my cleaning and x-rays, I came back to find Miss Judy had discovered one of Ian's favorite activities - looking out the window. He loves to watch cars and people go by. The Fed-Ex guy even waved at them as he passed by!

When I dropped Ian off, I hadn't even noticed all that their Early Smiles room offered. Here's one view of the room.

Close up of all the cool different dress up outfits they have! I know Ian is going to love them as he gets older.
I have to say that this almost makes me look forward to going to the dentist!
wow! that's awesome. is it in North Richland hIlls? we might have to check into that. hope your hubby is feeling better!
ReplyDeleteIt is in NRH - off of Davis and Mid Cities (about 10 min north of the hospital). I totally think it is worth the extra drive time. Especially if you have to have multiple appts for some reason. And James is feeling better - thanks! That stronger antibiotic seems to have done the trick.
