Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!! This is the first New Year's Day in quite a while that I have been up at 5am without having stayed up the whole night...perhaps the first New Year's Day ever! Haha. Ian woke up at 4:40am and is just as awake as can be. He has been fed, diapered, and is laying calmly in his crib right now, so hopefully he will fall back asleep soon.

We rang in the New Year's by sharing a few black eyed peas with Ian. I'd never heard of eating black eyed peas on New Year's until just a few years ago. Perhaps it's a Southern tradition? I don't know. In any case, Ian just started a pureed foods strike, so black eyed peas fit right into the menu of soft, non-meat/dairy foods he can have and is willing to eat.

Mommy and Ian with our Happy New Year hats in front of the tree.

Ditto with Daddy and Ian.

Getting ready to eat some black eyed peas. Ian's onesie says "Man of the Year!!" - cute, huh?

Yum, yum! Ian liked the black eyed peas.

Haha - notice Ian is helping himself while Daddy eats his black eyed pea.

I think this picture is so cute. Open up, baby birdie!

We were planning to watch a movie after we put Ian to bed. James usually does bath time (which I love!), and I was going to check and see how things were going and came across this:

So cute! Ian was getting a piggyback ride to the bath tub. Is there any better way to get there? He was having a blast too - bouncing on Daddy's shoulders and grabbing onto James' hair for balance and to steer him in the right direction. :-)

After we put Ian to bed, we watched Julie and Julia together. James knew I had been wanting to see it, so he surprised me by renting it the other night. We paused the movie halfway through to make banana bread, so we got to have our own little cooking experience while watching the movie. It was a good movie and we even ended up being awake to ring in the New Year (thanks to Ian).

We hope each and everyone of you have a blessed 2010!!!
