Ian did pretty well at the store. We had a little resistance initially, but then he behaved just like a regular two-year old! He put his carrots (which he won't eat ha!) in his bag and bounced them along.
He played "duck, duck, goose" with the milk cartons. :-)
And he enjoyed trying out the new gummies and cookies that we got. I've seen several mentions of Whole Foods' 365 cookies and I am thrilled to have a new cookie that doesn't turn my child into a monster! They are actually really, really good cookies! They taste better than regular oreos and vanilla creme cookies.

Knowing specific brands makes a big difference in being able to locate items. I still have more research to do. Ian loves cheese, but is allergic to dairy. He has been allowed to keep cheese in his diet, but we have noticed a constant rash under his chin and more drooling (same signs he had before we took him off dairy). So we need to find a good cheese substitute for him. I'm not thrilled with the soy substitutes. With all of Ian's allergies, there is a high chance he is allergic to that as well. Also James has done quite a bit of research on soy and has found it contains high amounts of estrogen. We don't particularly want to up Ian's hormonal intake on anything, so I need to do some more research!
I assume you've explored goats milk as a form of dairy ... but I've heard of positive responses from people who struggle with many of the dairy foods handle goat milk better. Might be worth looking into! I think there are a couple of goat dairy farms in Tarrant County too.
ReplyDeleteHave you looked into Kraft Cheese that has some Lactose Free products. I have a allegry to dairy and I can eat it and do OK.
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you need any ideas on the cheese end. My friend Vivian has all of her kids off dairy and I'm sure she knows of something good as a substitute.
ReplyDelete@Chione & Linda - thank you for the suggestions. I definitely want to see how he reacts to Goat's milk and Kraft's Lactose free products. Hopefully we'll have positive results for both! @Lissie - I would love to know what your friend Vivian does!
