I like to shop. That's just a given fact. There's nothing more fun than the thrill of finding a fantastic deal on a really cute item. So, with getting ready for Ian's first birthday next month, I have been having a blast looking at all the different merchandise out there geared specifically towards people like me who want to make the day memorable. Sigh. They really know how to market their stuff. I've really been having to watch how much I spend so as not to get in trouble. Double sigh. And I wouldn't even get in trouble with James because I usually do the finances, so it would be me that I would be getting in trouble with. Sigh, sigh, sigh.
So in the spirit of keeping things in budget this month, I decided to go with a homemade solution to solve the problem of Ian standing in his crib. Well, Ian standing up really isn't the problem (except when he forgets how to sit down and can't go to sleep!). It's the fact that he thinks the crib rails make fantastic teething toys. The first day I went in and found him chomping away, I was surprised at how much damage my little chipmunk could do! I expected a few bite marks on those rails along the way, but not the scrapings he had on there! So, for his safety and that of the crib's, I grabbed a few color coordinating dish towels and some large safety pins and went to work making a protective barrier.
I think it actually came out pretty well.
Here's a close-up.

The next day, Ian figured out how to turn around and chomp on the rail behind him, so I had to fix that one up too. This may not be a permanent solution, especially if he starts playing with the safety pins, but it is working pretty well for now!
I'm so excited about Ian's party!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on that crib/Ian protective barrier. That's some smart thinking. Too bad the little ones always figure out a way to get around it! Ha
Awesome idea!! Wish I would've thought about that...Malachi's crib has lovely teeth marks all over! Hah!
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling about finding a deal! I might not even need it but it is like they are just begging me to take it, haha! Cute idea on the crib rail protector. I don't have one of those either but I have a bit before it becomes really important, haha!
